• Thunderhead Disc Golf Course is now closed for the season.
Though the snow hasn't started to stick on the course, and the tree's are
blazing right now and its perfect disc-ing weather, the course is now closed
as of Oct 6, 2008. Actually, many of thee mountain trails are closed to all
traffic including bikers and hikers. Ski Corp and the Forest Service are
cutting down beetle kill. The face of the mountain is going to change drastically,
and so will the course. If allowed again, the course will be very different
next year. Thank
you all for making it a great season. We'll hopefully see you again next
year.
If you haven't already, send us (and Ski Corp) a note and let us know your thoughts
on the course and if you'd like to see Ski Corp and the Forest Service allow
us to return next year.
• First Annual Steamboat Open was a success!
Thank you to everyone for coming out. We had a GREAT weekend. What an experience.
It’s the first time the disc golf community in Steamboat Springs has
ever come together at one time, in one place, to enjoy the game. We showed
up en masse, filled the event, and displayed that there is more than just
a casual desire for disc golf in Steamboat. 61 people played from 5 total
states, and even technically another country, Nicaragua (props Ryan!). Our
sincere apologies to those we had to turn away. We had no idea there would
be such a turnout. Let’s do it again next year, bigger and better!

• The Thunderhead Disc Golf Course at the Steamboat
Ski Area still NEEDS YOUR HELP so it will be allowed to continue in 2009!
The
baskets are up for Summer 2008! THANK YOU to the Steamboat Ski Corporation
for allowing the Thunderhead Disc Golf Course to continue for the 2008 season!!!!!
A special thank you to Jim Schneider for working closely with SADL and helping
to make this 2008 course possible. Please
remember to keep the course CLEAN and pack out what ever you pack in (and
you could always pack it out even if you didn't pack it in!). Keep a distance
from wildlife and respect your fellow hikers and bikers.
Get out there and enjoy it!
Thunderhead Course Details >>
Even though the course is up, we still need your voice to
ensure the course can continue next year. Please keep writing… we
need names, we need contact information, we need to show Ski Corp there is
a true interest in this course. Write us a note, even write a note addressing
Ski Corp (we'll pass it on) about how this year's course was a huge improvement
over the base area course and how we all wish it to continue
